University of Adelaide Scholarship applications are opening soon! Stay tuned for the 2020 Application Form. 
 

AU Sport and the University of Adelaide provide a number of Scholarships for currently enrolled students.

Prospective applicants should have outstanding ability in a particular sport and be an active member of an AU Sport club or in the case of a first year student, looking to join an AU Sport Club. Those at an elite level may also look at what other support and opportunities are available with AU Sport Elite Athlete Program.

University of Adelaide Students Scholarships

In 2020, the following scholarships are on offer:
 

The Adelaide University Sport Scholarships

Valued at $2,500 each

These scholarships were established by AU Sport with the aim of providing and promoting the best possible sport and recreation environment for the University of Adelaide community. They will benefit two UofA students per year, who are undertaking an Undergraduate or Honours program of study.
 

The Charlie Jessop Sport Scholarship

Valued at $2,000 

This scholarship is awarded in recognition of Charlie Jessop, an AU Sport life member who made significant contributions to the University of Adelaide, AU Sport & the Law faculty. The scholarship is awarded to a Law student, who not only excels in their chosen sport, but also gives valuable service to their AU Sport club.
 

The Don Stranks Sport Scholarship 

Valued at $2,000

This scholarship is dedicated to the late Professor Don Stranks, former Vice-Chancellor & Vice-President of the University and keen supporter of the Football and Cricket clubs. 

To be considered, the University of Adelaide student must not only excel in their chosen sport of Football or Cricket, but also give valuable service to either the Adelaude University Football or Cricket club. 
 

The Bob Heddle Sport Scholarships

Valued at $2,000 each

In recognition of the many years of service and support given by Bob, who was Director of the University Health Service from 1964-1982.  During that time, Bob was a member of the University Council and the University Council representative on the AU Sport Board of Management. The scholarships are awarded on merit to unspecified sports.

Scholarships are presented to University of Adelaide students, who not only excel in their chosen sport but also give valuable service to their Adelaide University Sport club. 
 

The Bill Scammell Sport Scholarship

Valued at $2,000

Named after a former Chancellor of the University of Adelaide and supporter of AU Sport, this scholarship is awarded to a University of Adelaide student, who may not necessarily excel in their chosen sport, but who contribute to the development of University sport in a significant way. 

Contributuion may be as a administrator, volunteer, or coach (for not less than three years). 
 

AU Sport President Scholarships

Valued at $1,000 each 

Awarded to University of Adelaide students in their first year of study, as a financial incentive to join an AU Sport club. The scholarship holder must make himself/herself available for AU Sport club matches, including during University holidays, unless special permission is granted by the club and AU Sport. Also, the holder may not play for any other club, on loan or temporary transfer, during the three years of the scholarship. 

President's scholarships are payable mid-year to assist with the payment of compulsory fees, textbooks and sporting equipment, as well as the payment of the athlete’s club membership fees for up to three years.
 

People's Choice Credit Union Scholarships 

Valued at $1,000 each 

Adelaide University Sport prides itself on providing sport and recreation opportunities for all students and the People’s Choice Credit Union scholarships are designed to support our focus on inclusion. The following three scholarships are funded by People’s Choice Credit Union each with a $1,000 value.

  • People’s Choice Credit Union Women in Sport Scholarship

  • People’s Choice Credit Union Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Athlete Scholarship, and 

  • People’s Choice Credit Union Athlete with a Disability Scholarship.

The Max Weir Intervarsity Hockey Award

Managed by AU Hockey Club, valued at $500 

The Max Weir Award is not designed to primarily recognise sporting or academic ability.  It also recognises an applicant who is active and involved in their Club, University or Local Community and likely to contribute to the Adelaide University Hockey Club through their paticipation in the University Nationals. AU Sport Club Member Scholarships

Non students who are members of an AU Sports Club are eligable to apply for the following scholarships:
 

Coopers Award

Valued at $1000 

The Coopers Award is awarded to an Adelaide University Sport affiliated club member to undertake further studies in sports management, or a University of Adelaide student who is also an AU Sport club member, to undertake leadership training. The award is to the value of $1,000 and is awarded to one applicant each year.
