Intervarsity Challenge Cup

The University of Adelaide has a long history of intervarsity competition in many sports. In 2016, a number of Go8 universities decided it was time to revive the rivalry and re-establish the intervarsity football (men’s) competition. Since then, we have dominated the competition and only lost one game.

Josh Stewart, 2016 IV co-Captain and Law graduate, has fond memories of playing IV. "IV football was not only a great opportunity to compete with and against the best players within the university system, but also a chance to take part in a well-established history of students doing the same.”

This year, AU Sport, in partnership with the Adelaide University Football Club (AUFC), will once again be supporting a team of University of Adelaide students in the Varsity Cup Challenge where they will play in a North/South Conference to determine the best Football university in the region. The team’s campaign kicks off with a warm-up game against ANU in Canberra on 17 April and will follow with a home South Conference Semi Final against either Monash or the University of Melbourne in May. The winner will then compete in the Varsity Cup Challenge Grand Final against the winner of the North Conference.

If you are a current student at the University of Adelaide who plays A or B grade for your current football club, we want you to represent the University. The team is open to all University of Adelaide male students and no bias is shown to those who play for the AUFC.

To register your interest to represent the University, please complete the 'Expression of Interest' registration form.

The first training session will take place at 6pm on Wednesday 14 March on the Park 10 University Oval.
