In 2008, Australia's largest annual multi sport event will be held in the city of Melbourne. The Games provide an opportunity for university athletes to compete against each other in a national multi sport event. As such, the Games has built a reputation as a not-to-be-missed event attracting over 6,000 participants from over 40 universities each year. In 2008 the Games boasts a program of 28 sports and will operate with support from Tourism Victoria, City of Melbourne and both Monash and Victoria Universities.
