Centenary is a grand affair

The Centenary of the Opening of the University Sportsground, pavilion and boat shed in Park 12 was well celebrated on 11 July at a function attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor James McWha, officials from the Adelaide City Council, sports alumni and club representatives.

A joint cutting of the anniversary cake by the Vice-Chancellor and AUSA President, Tim Collin, symbolised the close ties of the University with the promotion of sport and its important role in adding to the the student experience and life at University.

Volunteers from the SA Chapter of the Australian Costumers' Guild and the Victoriana Society of SA added a historical flavour to the event's proceedings, while club tours of the soon to be renovated boat shed and pavilion (or grandstand) were also undertaken.

The Sports Association unveiled its new logo and its Sports Facility Plan - a blueprint for the future of University sports grounds and facilities for the next 10 years - at the function.
