The AU Scuba Club is saddened to inform all past and present club members that the current 2009/2010 President, Mostyn Walker, died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, 16 January.
Mostyn Walker has been the AUSC’s most tireless worker and strongest supporter for decades. He has been involved with the club for at least 20 years, and is the only club member to have been made an Honorary Life Member for his countless contributions. He had held numerous positions on previous committees: twice as President, twice Vice-President, twice Treasurer and once as the Boating Officer.
His unselfish nature was emphasised on the day of his departure. He had organised a local dive expedition to the Glenelg Dredge, and was at the clubhouse early on the Saturday morning to ensure everything went smoothly with the equipment and the plan. He had arrived on his Kawasaki motorcycle dressed in his “leathers”, and was then off for a ride in the hills whilst club members enjoyed the dive underwater. Little did anyone know of the future of his ride.
Undoubtedly, Mostyn will be sorely missed by everyone, and with him he has taken years of kindness, service and experience.
