The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Adelaide, Professor James McWha, has launched the inaugural Inter-Faculty Active Recreation Week (IFAR) incorporating the Vice-Chancellor's Cup.
IFAR Week is a 5 day program from 7 to 11 September designed to promote fitness, health and general activity for all staff, students and visitors to the North Adelaide Campus.
The week of activities includes daily recreation/fitness activities, demonstrations and seminars combined in a carnival style atmosphere.
The IFAR Week culminates in the running of the Vice-Chancellor's Cup on Friday 11 September.
The Vice-Chancellor's Cup is an Inter-Faculty footrace around the grounds of the Adelaide University with each faculty being represented by a male and female student and a male and female staff member.
Distinctive uniforms have been made for each team representative.
The race aims to bring the Adelaide University community together, to promote a healthy rivalry within the University and to consequently generate an interest in recreation and fitness.
The race will commence next to the Barr Smith Lawns, closest to the George Murray building. The course will then progress up the Barr Smith steps, make its way towards North Terrace and past the Mitchell building before turning just before Bonython Hall and heading back to the finish line out the front of Union Hall.
The winning faculty, and the winner of the Vice-Chancellor's Cup, is judged as the team which has the lowest combined time.
