The Adelaide University Sports Association gives out three awards to our students and athletes.
Blues
A “blue” is the highest sporting distinction which can be awarded by the University of Adelaide. It is awarded in recognition of outstanding ability in a particular sport. A blue is only awarded to a member of the Sports Association.
To be awarded a blue, a nominee must satisfy both:
the Sports Associations’ requirements common to all clubs (“the common requirements”), and
his/her club’s guidelines (“the club’s guidelines”)
The common requirements are set out in regulations to the Sports Association’s constitution. They are contained in the appendix to this nomination form.
Half Blues
A “half-blue” is the second highest sporting distinction conferred by the Association and is a recognition of ability in a particular sport which is not sufficient to entitle persons an award of a blue.
A half blue is only awarded to a member of the Sports Association. To be awarded a blue, a nominee must satisfy both
the Sports Associations’ requirements common to all clubs (“the common requirements”), and
his/her club’s guidelines (“the club’s guidelines”)
The common requirements are set out in regulations to the Sports Association’s constitution. They are contained in the appendix to this nomination form.
Club Letters
“club letters” may be awarded either:
as the lowest sporting distinction conferred by the Association, in which case the same shall, except in special cases, be awarded to a person who throughout such period as the Association considers sufficient in the circumstances, has, either taken part regularly and consistently well in local competition or who has taken part well in Inter-varsity competition, or Australian Universities Games and/or Championships, or
as an acknowledgment of the rendering of conscientious service by a person to such person's club
and has satisfied the guidelines of such person’s club for the award of club letters.
Club letters are only awarded to a member of the Sports Association. To be awarded club letters, a nominee must satisfy both the Sports Associations’ requirements common to all clubs (“the common requirements”), and
the Sports Associations’ requirements common to all clubs (“the common requirements”), and
his/her club’s guidelines (“the club’s guidelines”)
